Kazakh President Tokayev to pay official visit to Viet Nam
VGP - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from August 20 to 22, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit will be made at the invitation of Vo Van Thuong who was sworn in as President of Viet Nam on March 2, 2023.
Viet Nam and Kazakhstan set up diplomatic ties on September 26, 1992 and both countries are keen on boosting their multifaceted cooperation.
Both nations are committed to supporting each other at the UN and other international forums, thus helping raise their status on the international arena.
Since the launch of a free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the Eurasian Economic Union in 2016, trade between Viet Nam and Kazakhstan has steadily grown. In the first half of 2022, it grew 57 percent to US$303 million.
The two countries expect to raise two-way trade to US$1.5 billion by 2030 by leveraging a potential in agricultural products, IT, machinery, and beverages.
On June 16, 2023, the Kazakhstan Government approved a visa waiver agreement with Viet Nam, under which the duration of their citizens' stay should not exceed 90 days from the date of entry and shall not exceed 90 days for a six-month period. They will have to apply for a visa if they want to stay longer./.
