The above agreement was reached on March 25 at the second meeting of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV).

Dong Nai province is located in the Southeast region and forms part of the Southern Key Economic Zone. After merging with Binh Phuoc province in July 2025, the locality has a population of over 4.4 million, ranking third nationwide after Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City. It covers an area of 12,730 square kilometers, ranking ninth in the country.

In 2025, the locality's GRDP grew by 9.63 percent, exceeding the government's target by 1.13 percentage points. Its GRDP at current prices reached VND 677.932 trillion, an increase of VND 84.468 trillion, while GRDP per capita reached VND 150.86 million.

Currently, Viet Nam has six centrally-governed cities, namely Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Hue, and Can Tho.

At the meeting, the Central Committee also provided opinions on the socio-economic development plan for 2026–2030, the national financial plan, medium-term public investment, and the public debt borrowing and repayment plan for the 2026–2030 period./.
