Kazakhstan urged to facilitate Vietnamese product entry
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed Kazakhstan pave a favorable way for Viet Nam’s advantageous products, including farm produce, seafood, apparels, and wooden products, to approach its market.
The Vietnamese Government chief made the proposal on August 18 at a reception for Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi who is on a two-day official visit to Viet Nam on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Viet Nam and Kazakhstan (1992-2020).
The Prime Minister spoke highly of the robust developments in the bilateral political and diplomatic ties over the past three decades.
Prime Minister Pham suggested the two sides further promote the exchange of delegations at all levels, and support each other at multilateral forums and international organizations, particularly the United Nations and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
He also expressed his pleasure at positive progress in the bilateral economic and trade collaboration, especially after a free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) took effect in 2016.
In 2021, two-way trade exceeded US$ 630 million, tripling the figure recorded before the trade pact came into force.
The Governmental leader took the occasion to call on Kazakhstan to facilitate the entry of Vietnamese products, like farm produce, seafood, apparel, and wooden products.
The Prime Minister also suggested the two countries push for the amendment of the Viet Nam-EAEU Free Trade Agreement to facilitate their bilateral trade and investment ties.
Pham highlighted the important role of the Viet Nam - Kazakhstan intergovernmental committee for economic - commercial and scientific - technological cooperation, urging the two sides to negotiate and sign an agreement on visa exemption for their citizens; and soon coordinate to launch railway and direct flight routes between the countries.
In reply, Deputy Prime Minister Tileuberdi said that Kazakhstan expects to beef up the friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam, particularly in economy, trade, and investment.
He said the two countries should boost cooperation in such fields as agriculture, tourism, transport, finance, and clean energy.
Both sides also discussed international and regional matters of shared concern, including the East Sea issue./.
