Switzerland gives high priority to relationship with Viet Nam: Ambassador
VGP - Swiss Ambassador to Viet Nam Thomas Gass expressed his hope that Viet Nam will make active contributions to the upcoming 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
In a recent interview with the VGP, Gass said, the 55th Annual Meeting of the WEF is an important event, which gathers political and economic leaders of the world together with civil society to discuss the impact of the intelligent society.
Delegates to the event will discuss important topics that relevant to the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) to economic growth, industrialization and human resources and the capacities of the workers in the factories and in the companies as well as rebuilding trust in the international community.
The diplomat said, in a world that is marked by a lot of tensions and polarization, it is extremely important that countries such as Viet Nam takes an active role and also let their voice be heard.
This is consistent with the vision of the Politburo and the Government of Viet Nam, that the nation should have a stronger and a more prominent role at the regional and global levels.
"We will also be listening to what Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has to say in terms of his analysis of the global situation and also the solutions that Viet Nam can propose to these challenges that I have mentioned earlier on', he noted.
Regarding activities of the Vietnamese delegation at the event, the Ambassador told that the Vietnamese delegation is preparing for very important and relevant side events on the mobilization of finances for FinTech, but also for the building of international financial centers in Viet Nam.
The mobilization of funding into the pharmaceutical industry and innovation for renewable energy for a service-oriented industry in Viet Nam are relevant topics will be also discussed at the meeting.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister will be able to convene some high-level CEOs around the table during these side events that are being facilitated by Vin Capital, on the one hand, and by Soveco Vinhet, on the other hand.

According to Gass, during his tour to Switzerland, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is going to meet President Karin Keller-Sutter, in a bilateral meeting where they will discuss the strengthening of the bilateral relationships and the elevation of the bilateral partnership.

"When you go outside, you will not see many big signboards of Swiss companies. But if you go into the Vietnamese factories, then you will see a lot of Swiss machines. Whether it's the robots that make the Vinfast cars. Or whether it's the beeler mills that are producing the rice, or whether it's the coffee transformation plants of Nestle. These are just some of the examples of Swiss companies", shared the diplomat.
There are a lot of companies in the FinTech area that are already working in Viet Nam, doing back office internet services for European banks, insurance companies and post systems. Swiss companies are developing software here in Viet Nam. There is a lot of very exciting things happening, told Gass.
The Ambassador expressed his belief that in the upcoming time, both sides will actively discuss in a spirit of friendship and partnership in such fields of signing a free trade agreement and exempting visa for visitors from Switzerland./.
