Prime Minister, WEF Founder interact with 500 students in Ha Noi

VGP – Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prof. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Chairman of the World Economic Forum had an interactive session with 500 students in Ha Noi on Monday.

Dignitaries to the event include Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy, Swiss Ambassador to Viet Nam Thomas Gass.

During the interactive session themed "Positioning Viet Nam in the intelligent age – next generation visionaries", Schwab, who is on a working visit to Viet Nam from October 5-8, shared the overview of forces that are shaping the world.

Science and technology, innovation and startups are developing rapidly while pubic-private partnership has become increasingly important in today's world, he said.

Viet Nam's real advantage will depend on whether it can build a knowledge economy, which includes not only skills and professional capacity but also environmental, social and geopolitical advantages – all of which are important factors for a prosperous and inclusive society, according to Schwab.

He said Viet Nam can grasp new opportunities to create its own prosperous, sustainable and inclusive future, adding that through initiatives such as the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the WEF is working to provide resources and connections needed to help developing countries like Viet Nam to develop innovation hubs, invest in digital infrastructure and prepare workforce highly adaptive to challenges ahead.

Prof. Schwab spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government's vision in socio-economic development towards inclusiveness, leaving no one behind, expressing his optimism about the great opportunity for the young generation of Viet Nam in contributing to and shaping the future of the country.

Pham, for his part, said that first of all, young generation must be confident and courageous to enter the intelligent age.

He called on young generation to promote the heroic historical and cultural traditions, dare to face difficulties and challenges, overcome difficulties and challenges so as to contribute to the next stage of national development.

He urged young people to take the pioneering role in emerging fields such as digital economy, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy, semiconductor chips, cloud computing, and Internet of Things among others./.
