Prime Minister to visit Poland and Czech Republic, attend WEF
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse will pay official visits to the Republic of Poland and the Czech Republic and attend the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, from January 15-23.
The trip will be made at the invitation of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, and the Founder and Executive Chairman of the WEF Klaus Schwab.
* Viet Nam and Poland established diplomatic ties in April, 1950. Over the past years, the two countries have frequently exchanged high- ranking delegations across government and parliamentary channels. The two sides have constantly promoted direct cooperation between their departments, locals, and enterprises.
Both sides have maintained growth momentum in economic–trade–investment cooperation.
In the first nine months of 2024, bilateral trade turnover reached over US$2.5 billion, with Poland emerging as Viet Nam's top trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe while Viet Nam becoming Poland's most important trading partner in Southeast Asia.
* Viet Nam and the Czech Republic are celebrating the 75th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025.
According to Czech statistics, the two-way trade volume reached US$2.9 billion in 2023, marking a 19 percent increase from 2022. Viet Nam is currently the Czech Republic's largest trading partner in ASEAN.
Vietnamese people living and working in the Czech Republic are the fourth largest community with about 300,000 people.
* Since Viet Nam and WEF established relations in 1989, bilateral cooperation has been promoted and developed in various spheres.
Viet Nam's active participation in WEF conferences and its coordination in successfully organizing a number of WEF events have contributed to helping the country boost investment attraction, promote its image, as well as strengthen relations with global corporations.
Government leaders and businesses will join global counterparts at the World Economic Forum's 55th Annual Meeting in January 2025. The meeting, themed 'Collaboration for the Intelligent Age', will focus on navigating geopolitical and economic challenges while leveraging technological advancements for growth and collaboration in an increasingly fragmented world./.
