With the total capital investment of over US$1 billion, this is the company's sixth factory worldwide and second in Asia.
The project is expected to create over 4,000 jobs, particularly providing opportunities for young workers to acquire modern skills and participate in the global value chain.
With an initial production capacity of 30,000 tons per year, this project serves as a new driving force for industrialization, modernization, and international integration. It also contributes to Viet Nam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as pledged at the COP26.
It will run on 100 percent renewable energy by early 2026. In addition to the factory's own 12,400 rooftop solar panels, the company today announced a landmark agreement with Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) for an energy center on adjacent land.
The energy center will house the first battery storage solution of its scale in Viet Nam and will be operational by the end of 2025. Remaining renewable energy needs will be met through power purchase agreements.
The use of battery storage solutions and power purchase agreements to increase renewable energy is not just a first for the LEGO Group but among the first for any company in Viet Nam.
The factory is also home to the LEGO Group's first LEED Platinum certified buildings.
LEGO Manufacturing Viet Nam is also the first LEGO factory to exclusively produce paper-based pre-pack bags.
Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh highly appreciated LEGO's commitment to environmentally friendly production and carbon emission reduction.
He emphasized that the LEGO factory is not only a manufacturing facility but also a source of creative inspiration for children in Viet Nam and around the world—contributing to economic development while protecting the environment.
The plant has become a symbol of sustainable cooperation between Viet Nam and Denmark, noted Mai, expressing his belief that, building on the success of this project, the bilateral relationship will continue to grow comprehensively, extending into areas such as renewable energy, digital transformation, and circular economy./.
