Viet Nam signs nearly 927 international agreements in 2021-2025 period

VGP – Viet Nam and foreign partners signed 927 high-level agreements and commitments between 2021 and 2025, including 350 agreements and commitments in 2025, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The above figures were unveiled at the meeting held on Wednesday to review the implementation of international agreements and commitments in 2021-2025 period.

Over the past five years, Viet Nam upgraded relations with 24 countries, raising the total number of comprehensive partners, strategic partners and comprehensive strategic partners to 42 countries; and signed two new free trade agreements with Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The Southeast Asian nation has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries, said the ministry.

Viet Nam's trade with the rest of the world reached a new record high of US$930 billion in 2025 compared to US$545 billion in 2020.

Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said leaders of the Party and State attach great importance to the signing and implementation of international agreements and commitments.

The record number of signed agreements and commitments over the past five years reflects Viet Nam's growing relations with countries and partners around the world as well as its increasingly deeper integration into the global community.

The Government chief emphasized the effective implementation of international agreements and commitments would help improve the effectiveness of diplomacy and international integration while consolidating the country's prestige and position on the international arena and making practical contributions to achieving the country's strategic development goals.

He called for introduction of key performance indicators (KPI) to evaluate and measure the implementation of international agreements and commitments./.
