The agreement was reached by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsahkna during their meeting in Tallinn, Estonia on June 6.

Both sides also agreed to cooperate in the field of information technology towards building modern digital diplomacy.

The two sides agreed to promote the coordinating role of the two foreign ministries in realizing the outcomes of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's first official visit to Estonia from June 5-7.

Bui affirmed Viet Nam expects to enhance cooperation with Estonia across all spheres, particularly e-government, digital transformation, building of data centers, and application of information technology in public governance and socio-economic development.

Minister Tsahkna, for his part, emphasized that Estonia attaches importance to strengthening relations with the Asia-Pacific countries, including Viet Nam.

He pledged to push for early ratification of the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVFTA) by remaining members of the EU.

The two ministers compared notes on regional and international issues of common concern. Regarding maritime issue, both sides agreed to maintain consultation at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, contributing to safeguarding peace, stability and sustainable development in the region and the world.

The pair affirmed their support for settlement of disputes through peaceful means and dialogues on the basis of international law and the United Nations Charter, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Bui took the occasion to invite Minister Tsahkna to visit Viet Nam and the latter accepted the invitation with pleasure.

Earlier the same day, Bui and Tsahkna signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal./.
