Viet Nam seeks Estonina's experience in e-government development

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested Estonia share its experience in e-government, digital economy development and digital transformation with Viet Nam.

Pham, who is on a three-day official visit to Estonia, made the above suggestion during his summit meeting with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal in Tallinn on June 6.

Prime Minister Pham called on Estonia to assist Viet Nam in training high-quality human resource for these aforesaid areas as the Southeast Asian country considers science, technology and digital transformation as a major breakthrough of top importance in the new era of national development.

Michal affirmed Estonia expects to strengthen all-round cooperation with Viet Nam and is willing to help Viet Nam promote the advancement of digital transformation, innovation, science and technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, education and training.

The two leaders stressed the need to support and assist each other for mutual development, create fovorable conditions for their enterprises to do business in respective countries, and foster people-to-people exchanges.

On multilateral aspect, the two leaders underlined the need to reform multilateral forums to improve the efficiency of these forums.

The pair agreed to coordinate closely and support each other in regional and international issues and at multilateral forums like the United Nations and ASEAN-EU framework.

The two sides underlined the importance of international solidarity and respect for the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter. Prime Minister Pham affirmed that Viet Nam is ready to join the international community's peacekeeping efforts.

For maritime issue, including the East Sea, the two sides voiced support for freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea on the basis of respect for littoral countries' interests in accordance with international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, without threat or use of force.

Pham took the occasion to invite Estonia to send a high-level delegation to Viet Nam to join the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime scheduled to take place in Ha Noi in November this year.

Pham also invited Prime Minister Kristen Michal to visit Viet Nam and the latter accepted the invitation with pleasure.

After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia and a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in digital transformation and digital economy between the Ministry of Science and Technology of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs of Estonia./.
