Viet Nam Airlines to launch direct air route to Italy from July next year

VGP - The national flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines planned to lanch direct air route from Ha Noi to Italy’s Milan from July 1, 2025, becoming the first Viet Nam’s airline to open air route to the European country.

There will be three flights per week, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, according to the State-owned Viet Nam Airlines.

The new air route is expected to not only attract arrivals from Italy but also passengers from other European countries, and promote economic, social and political ties between the two nations and between Viet Nam and Europe.

This is Viet Nam Airlines' 9th direct air route between Viet Nam and Europe. The others routes include Ha Noi-Paris, Ho Chi Minh City-Paris, Ha Noi-Frankfurt, and Ha Noi-London.

In early October this year, Viet Nam Airlines said it will launch direct flights between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City with Germany's Munich.

Viet Nam and Italy celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and 11 years of strategic partnership in 2024.

Viet Nam is currently the biggest trade partner of Italy in ASEAN and Italy is the fourth largest trade partner of Viet Nam in the EU.

Last year as many as 81,000 visitors from Italy travelled to Viet Nam, equipment to 89 percent of the pre-pandemic figure./.
