Viet Nam Airlines to launch direct route from Ha Noi to Phnom Penh in October
VGP - The national flag carrier, Viet Nam Airlines, announced its plan to operate direct flights between Ha Noi and Cambodia's Phnom Penh, starting October 27.
Accordingly, the carrier will run four round trips per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The new route will raise weekly flights connecting the two countries to 86.
Currently, passengers travelling with the airline from Ha Noi to the Cambodian capital need to transit in Vientiane, Laos.
On average, about 450,000 people travel by air between the two countries each year, and the yearly growth rate is 24 percent in the past more than three decades.
Around 1.01 million Vietnamese tourists flocked to Cambodia last year, making Viet Nam the kingdom's second largest source of arrivals, after Thailand.
In the first six months of this year, Cambodia was Viet Nam's fastest-growing market, increasing by 396 percent against pre-COVID levels, followed by India (312 percent) and Indonesia (177 percent).
Cambodia was one of 10 largest sources of visitors for Viet Nam's inbound tourism between January and June./.
