Top Vietnamese, Chinese diplomats meet in Beijing
VGP - Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son had a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing, China, on June 26.
The two diplomats had a comprehensive and practical discussion on the bilateral ties and international and regional issues of common concerns.
They reached consensus on specific measures to implement high-level agreements, remarkably the Viet Nam-China Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and building a Viet Nam-China Community of Shared Future that carries strategic significance.
The two sides vowed to continue increasing high-level exchanges and contacts, work together to organize important foreign affairs activities and maintain dialogue and cooperation mechanisms between the two sides, including the 16th meeting of the Viet Nam–China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation which will be held in China this year.
The host and the guest underlined the need to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in practical areas of economy, trade, investment, transport connection, and strategic infrastructure development such as roads, railway, as well as actively step up the pilot construction of smart border gates to facilitate trade.
They agreed to further strengthen people-to-people exchanges and consolidate foundation for the relationship between the two Parties and two countries, enhance local-to-local linkages and continue to foster coordination and mutual support within multilateral frameworks.
Both sides pledged to maintain close coordination in land border management and protection in accordance with three legal documents on Viet Nam-China land borders and related agreements.
Regarding the East Sea issue, they underlined the importance of strictly implementing common agreements and perceptions reached by their senior leaders on controlling and resolving disagreements, effectively upholding negotiation mechanisms on maritime issues, contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea./.
