Prime Minister meets Chinese President Xi Jinping
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping in Beijing on June 26.
Pham conveyed greetings and best wishes of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong, President To Lam, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and other senior leaders of Viet Nam to General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.
Prime Minister Pham affirmed that Viet Nam considers developing stable, sustainable and long-term relations with China an objective requirement, strategic choice and top priority in Viet Nam's foreign policy, assured Prime Minister Pham.
He voiced support for China to successfully realize its second centenary goals and to successfully build socialism with Chinese characteristics.
General Secretary and President Xi conveyed greetings to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President To Lam and other senior leaders of Viet Nam, congratulating on Viet Nam's socio-economic development achievements.
Xi affirmed China attaches great importance to, and considers the relationship with Viet Nam a priority in its overall neighborhood dipomacy.
He also reiterated support for Viet Nam to protect independence and national dignity, successfully implement the resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress and successfully organize the 14th National Party Congress, and successfully build socialism in accordance with the country's reality.
Both sides expressed their pleasure at the positive growth pace of the Viet Nam-China relations over the past time and agreed to continue to concretize the two countries' high-level common perceptions, especially the Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries, and to build a Viet Nam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Xi stressed the need that both sides should strengthen political trust, regularly maintain high-level exchanges, effectively promote the role of the Viet Nam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, beef up exchanges and contacts on the Party channel, and enhance collaboration between the sides' important ministries and agencies such as ministries of foreign affairs, national defense, and security.
Both sides should promote substantive cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, better control and resolve divergences, and well coordinate at multilateral forums, thus contributing to development in the region and the world, said Xi.
Pham suggested both sides accelerate transport infrastructure connectivity, especially railways, roads and border gates, and welcomed China's expansion of high-quality investment in Viet Nam.
Both sides need to foster local-to-local cooperation to make it a new growth impetus, mull over establishment of pilot crossborder economic zones, and expand cooperation in finance, banking, education and heathcare, said the Vietnamese Prime Minister.
Xi reiterated support for Viet Nam to accelerate modernization and industrialization process, asking Viet Nam to work with China and other countries in developing stable and sustainable supply and production chains in the region and the world.
Xi also affirmed China's readiness to increase import of high-quality goods from Viet Nam.
Comparing notes on regional and international issues of common concerns, the two sides agreed to work together to properly control and address divergences and maintain peace and stability at sea.
Prime Minister Pham urged the two sides to seriously implement the common high-level perceptions, respect each other's legitimate interests in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Convention on the Law of Sea, and not let maritime disagreements affect the two countries' friendly relations./.
