Prime Minister holds summit meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the 15th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian city, Liaoning province.
In a friendly, sincere and open atmosphere, Chinese Premier Li welcomed Prime Minister Pham to the WEF meeting and conveyed greetings of General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese leaders to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong, President To Lam, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, and President of the Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien.
Prime Minister Pham conveyed greetings of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President To Lam, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, and President of the Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien to Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese leaders.
Pham expressed his belief that this year's WEF meeting in China would create an impetus for accelerating recovery and growth in the region and the world.
Viet Nam considers developing relations with China an objective requirement, strategic choice and top priority in Viet Nam's foreign policy, assured Prime Minister Pham.
Meanwhile, Chinese Premier Li emphasized China always considers Viet Nam a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and supports Viet Nam to carry out national industrialization and modernization and elevate its international role.
Both sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of the Viet Nam-China Joint Declaration on continuing to deepen and heighten the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Community of Shared Future with strategic significance.
The paired agreed to maintain exchanges and contacts all high levels and at all levels, and expand cooperation in key areas like diplomacy, defense and security while strengthening practical cooperation in other fronts, local-to-local and people-to-people connections.
They pledged to build the shared land border of peace, stability, cooperation and development, well control differences, maintain peace and stability at sea, and enhance coordination in global and regional forums.
Prime Minister Pham urged the two sides to effectively realize the common perceptions and high-level agreements, speed up transport connectivity, especially study the construction of standard guage railways between Lao Cai, Ha Noi, and Hai Phong, between Lang Son and Ha Noi, and between Mong Cai, Ha Long, and Hai Phong at the right time.
Both countries should soon sign a Protocol and complete market opening procedures for Vietnamese frozen durian and fresh coconut and other fresh fruits, said Pham.
He asked the Chinese side to create favorable conditions for the early establishment of Viet Nam Trade Promotion Office in Chengdu (Shichuan), Haikou (Hainan), and Nanjing (Jiangsu).
Both sides should develop a plan and roadmap for the official operation of the Ban Gioc (Viet Nam)-Detian (China) Waterfall Landscape Area, said Pham.
He suggested China would soon provide 1,000 scholarships for Vietnamese teachers of Chinese language.
Premier Li affirmed his readiness to enrich substance to cooperation with Viet Nam, saying China will further open its market for Vietnamese goods, especially agricultural and aquatic products and high-quality fruits.
Both sides engaged in sincere and frank discussions on maritime issue and agreed on the importance of satisfactorily controlling divergences, maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea.
Prime Minister Pham asked the two sides to strictly implement the high-level perceptions and the Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of maritime issues between Viet Nam and China; respect international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), and each other's legitimate rights and interests; promote the effectiveness of negotiation mechanisms on maritime issues; properly handle the issue of fishing boats; well control the situation at sea.
The two sides agreed to continue coordiation and cooperation at regional and international forums. Prime Minister Pham reaffirmed Viet Nam remains steadfast to "One China" policy and supports China to play an increasingly important and active role in the region and the world./.
