Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son made the above statement in an interview regarding outcomes of the State President's visits to these two African nations.
During the visits, the State leader held talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, had meetings with senior leaders of both countries, and attended the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam–Angola diplomatic relations.
The State President paid a visit to the Arab League and delivered important policy speeches at the Arab League and the special plenary session of the National Assembly of Angola.
He conveyed the message and reaffirmed Viet Nam's desire to elevate its friendship and cooperation with Egypt, Angola, the Arab League, and African countries to new heights, contributing to promoting peace, cooperation, and development between Asia and Africa.
The recently-established Viet Nam–Egypt comprehensive partnership is the first comprehensive partnership framework between Viet Nam and an African region, said Bui.
The visit also set the direction for building the Viet Nam–Angola "partnership for cooperation and joint development" into a model for South–South cooperation, serving the practical development needs and interests of each country, told Bui.
Along with the two Joint Statements between Viet Nam and these two nations, many important cooperation documents were signed in the fields of economy–trade–investment, defense–security, peacekeeping, justice, transfer of sentenced persons, prosecution, television, agriculture, and local-to-local cooperation.
Both Egypt and Angola welcomed and committed to facilitating the import of key Vietnamese products, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in these countries, and enabling Vietnamese companies to participate in potential oil and gas projects and provide oil and gas technical services in Angola.
Egypt and Angola also agreed to raise bilateral trade turnover with Viet Nam to US$1 billion. Egypt expressed readiness to promote discussions to soon launch negotiations on a free trade agreement with Viet Nam and to establish the Viet Nam–Egypt Business Council, highlighted the diplomat./.
