State President Luong Cuong starts State visits to Egypt and Angola
VGP – State President Luong Cuong and his Spouse left Ha Noi on Sunday morning for week-long State visits to Egypt and Angola.

The visits are made at the invitations of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço.
Luong is accompanied by Chairman of the Central Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, Chairman of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, and Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Phan Tam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Hung, among others.
The visits aim to consolidate the political trust and further deepen the traditional friendship and cooperation with Egypt and Angola, opening up new chapters of cooperation, especially in economic and trade areas with these African countries.
Viet Nam and Egypt established diplomatic relations on September 1, 1963.
Egypt was the first North African country to recognize Viet Nam's market economy status (November 2013). It is Viet Nam's largest trading partner in North Africa. In 2024, bilateral trade hit US$541.36 million.
In terms of investment, Egypt has 22 valid projects in Viet Nam with a total registered capital of US$2.87 million.
Meanwhile, Viet Nam set up diplomatic relations with Angola on November 12, 1975, just one day after Angola declared independence. Angola recognized Viet Nam's market economy status in April 2008.
Trade between the two countries reached nearly US$250 million in 2024. Viet Nam mainly exports rice, garments, and coffee while importing timber products and liquefied natural gas from the African country.
As of December 2024, Angola poured US$118.4 million in four projects in Viet Nam. Viet Nam also had four projects in Angola with a total registered capital of US$2.98 million./.
