Standard Chartered forecasts Viet Nam GDP growth at 11% next year
VGP - Standard Chartered forecasted Viet Nam's GDP growth at 9.5 percent in 2026 and 11 percent in 2027, driven by supportive policies, foreign direct investment (FDI) and rising domestic demand.

In its latest report, the bank has also raised Viet Nam's growth forecast for 2028 from 6.7 percent to 9.1 percent, noting that growth will remain in double digits in early 2027.
Tim Leelahaphan, Senior Economist for Viet Nam and Thailand at Standard Chartered highlighted Viet Nam's strong commitment to driving growth in 2027, which supports the outlook for domestic consumption and investment.
Strengthening foreign exchange reserves could help reinforce Viet Nam's position and increase domestic liquidity, which would continue to support the domestic interest rate market and stabilize funding costs, he noted.
The Southeast Asian nation's foreign exchange reserves currently stand at approximately US$83 billion, according to the report.
Viet Nam's economy grew by 9.95 percent in the third quarter and 9.01 percent over the first nine months of this year, reported the National Statistics Office.
The nation's GDP in the third quarter is higher than the growth rates of 8.15 percent in the first quarter and 8.81 percent in the second quarter.
In recent September, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) raised its forecast for Viet Nam's economic growth in 2026 to 7.8 percent from 7.2 percent in its July projections, the highest in ASEAN.
The bank projected 7.6 percent growth for 2027, also the highest in ASEAN, up from 7 percent in July.
Meanwhile, Singapore's United Overseas Bank (UOB) has raised its forecast for Viet Nam's GDP growth in 2026 to 9.2 percent from 8.5 percent, following stronger-than-expected third-quarter performance and upward revisions to first-half figures. The bank also raised its 2027 growth forecast to 8.8 percent from 8.4 percent.
Previously, in April, the Vietnamese National Assembly set a 2026-2030 agenda targeting at least 10 percent average annual GDP growth./.
