Prime Minister pays first official visit to Cambodia
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will pay an official visit to Cambodia from November 8-9 at the invitation of his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
This will be the first official visit to Cambodia by Prime Minister Nguyen, and also the first made by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader to Cambodia during the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2022.
The visit will look to continue bringing the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries into a new stage of development on the basis of equality, mutual benefit, effective cooperation and respect for each other's interests.
The overseas tour will also contribute to promoting solidarity and unity, consolidating the central role, and enhancing ASEAN's resilience in response to emerging challenges.
The trip is expected to help cement and deepen the bilateral relations in a practical and effective manner across domains such as politics, diplomacy, national defense, security, economics, trade, investment, border, culture, and education.
The two-way trade between the two countries valued at US$ 9.54 billion in 2021, representing a year-on-year growth of 79.1 percent. In the first nine months of 2022, the figure rose by 16.7 percent on year to US$ 8.45 billion.
So far, Viet Nam has 198 active FDI projects in Cambodia with the total registered capital of US$ 2.92 billion, ranking top among ASEAN member states and fifth in the world.
In the first half of 2022, over 143,000 Vietnamese tourists travelled to Cambodia, accounting for 28.3 percent of the total foreign arrivals to the neighboring country.
