Prime Minister to pay official visit to Cambodia, attend ASEAN Summits

Ms. Le made the announcement at the ministry’s press briefing in Ha Noi on November 3. 

The visit will be made at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister and Chair of ASEAN 2022 Samdech Techo Hun Sen. 

This is the first official visit of Pham since he took office as the Prime Minister of Viet Nam since 2021 and the first official tour of a Vietnamese high-ranking leader to Cambodia on the occasion of the 2022 Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Year. 

The Vietnamese PM is scheduled to partake in around 20 events with many important meetings where he will join other regional leaders in discussing major issues such as the ASEAN Community building, the bloc’s external relations and centrality, along with international and regional issues of shared concern.

He is expected to meet bilaterally with leaders of ASEAN Member States to discuss issues related to ASEAN and Viet Nam’s relations with the countries.

As an active and responsible member of ASEAN, Viet Nam will work closely with the host Cambodia, as well as other ASEAN members and other countries, to ensure the meetings are successful and produce substantive outcomes to help consolidate the bloc’s solidarity and centrality, enhance mutually beneficial relations between ASEAN and partners; and harmoniously and balancedly resolve issues facing ASEAN to contribute to the ASEAN Community for the sake of peace and stability in Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific at large, the Spokeswoman said.
