Pham hailed Russia's and the former Soviet Union's significant contributions to the development of Viet Nam's energy sector, particularly Russia has helped Viet Nam promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy, train generations of leading scientists and experts.

He reaffirmed that Viet Nam attaches great importance to its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, considering Russia one of its top priority partners.

He welcomed the active exchanges between the two sides across various levels in recent times. Pham noted that he had held meetings with both the Russian President and Prime Minister, during which both sides reaffirmed their determination to advance cooperation and accelerate the implementation of projects to meet Viet Nam's development needs.

Pham took the occasion to call upon Rosatom to support Viet Nam to build and expand nuclear research centers, train human resources, strengthen state management in nuclear energy, and boost cooperation in critical areas such as nuclear medicine and irradiation.

Alexey thanked Viet Nam and the Prime Minister for their trust in Russia as a partner in nuclear energy. As a global leader with long-standing cooperation with Viet Nam, Rosatom pledged to deepen collaboration with Viet Nam to implement high-level agreements, including its support for building nuclear power plants and modern nuclear centers.

Alexey also confirmed that Rosatom will transfer technology, localize nuclear components, and support the development of Viet Nam's nuclear science and industry to ensure the peaceful use of nuclear energy and contribute to socio-economic development.

The Russian business giant will also immediately send a working delegation to Viet Nam to coordinate directly with Vietnamese counterparts and expedite implementation of the cooperation areas.

On September 26, Rosatom Energy International JSC (REIN JSC), a subsidiary of Russia's state-owned Rosatom and Viet Nam's Power Engineering Consulting JSC 2 (PECC2) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), paving the way for cooperation in building Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant in Viet Nam, which is set to become the first nuclear power plant in the Southeast Asian nation.

In May, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung signed an inter-sectoral roadmap on nuclear technology development through 2030.

Accordingly, Rosatom is ready to provide a two-turbine nuclear power plant using VVER-1200 reactors, its flagship technology, which is currently in operation at six units worldwide, four in Russia and two in Belarus./.
