Politburo member Luong Cuong meets top Chinese leader Xi Jinping
VGP - Politburo member and Permanent Secretary of the Party Central Committee of Viet Nam Luong Cuong paid a courtesy call on Chinese General Secretary, President Xi Jinping in Beijing, China, on Friday.
During his four-day working visit to China from October 9-12, Luong Cuong also held talks with Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee Cai Qi.
At these meetings, on behalf of the Party and State of Viet Nam, Luong Cuong congratulated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the great achievements that the Chinese people have achieved over the last 75 years under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and Comrade Xi Jinping, China will successfully realize its goals, especially further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization.
Luong Cuong said his visit aims to implement the important consensus reached in recent years by the two countries' top leaders, remarkably the recent state visit of General Secretary, President To Lam to China.
He affirmed Viet Nam will continue strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China and promoting the building of a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Luong Cuong said that developing relations with China has always been the objective need, strategic choice and a top priority of Viet Nam's foreign policy.
He proposed that the two sides properly control and resolve differences in the spirit of frankness, sincerity, and friendship, focusing on stabilizing the situation at sea, and respect each other's legitimate rights and interests in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Noting that China takes Viet Nam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, Xi Jinping said China is ready to work with Viet Nam to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, safeguard international fairness and justice, and promote the cause of human progress, and jointly foster a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
He urged China and Viet Nam to strengthen their exchange of thoughts and ideas, make better use of institutionalized platforms such as theoretical discussions and cadre training, and enhance communication and the exchange of party and state governance experience.
Xi called for stepping up practical cooperation, especially in the fields of high-quality connections, including railway connections, border gates, infrastructure, state-owned enterprise development, environmental protection, as well as new areas such as digital economy, green development, natural disaster prevention and mitigation.
On fostering friendship between the two peoples, Xi called on the two sides to take full advantage of the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations and the China-Viet Nam Year of People-to-People Exchanges next year to bring greater recognition to the traditional friendship between the two countries.
During the talks between Luong Cuong and Cai Qi, they expressed wishes to promote collaboration in traditional fields, expand cooperation in new areas, increase imports of Vietnamese agricultural products and encourage Chinese businesses to increase investment in Viet Nam./.
