Chinese Premier Li Qiang to visit Viet Nam
VGP – Chinese Premier Li Qiang will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from December 12-14 at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Tuesday.
China was the first country in the world to set up diplomatic relations with Viet Nam on January 18, 1950.
In 2008, the two countries agreed to upgrade their ties to comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership on the occasion of the visit to China by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Nong Duc Manh.
Trade between Viet Nam and China reached US$171.9 billion in 2023, making Viet Nam the fourth biggest trading partner of China after the U.S., Japan, and South Korea.
China's investment in Viet Nam soared by 77 percent to US$4.47 billion last year, ranking fourth among countries and territories investing in the Southeast Asian nation.
Also in 2023, China was the second largest tourist source market of Viet Nam, with 1.75 million visitors, only after South Korea with 3.6 million visitors.
