Gov’t to provide US$100 million for 15 localities hit by Typhoon Bualoi
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh decided to allocate VND2,524 billion (US$100 million) to help 15 localities overcome the aftermath of Typhoon Bualoi (Storm No. 10) and other natural disasters since the beginning of 2025.
The Prime Minister requested Chairmen of provincial and municipal People's Committees to coordinate closely with the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and Vingroup in implementing the relief package.
Local authorities were tasked to quickly review, assess and complile accurate reports detailing life and property damages and to directly and promptly deliver the funding to affected families in a transparent manner.
The Government ased the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front to work with Vingroup and benefactors to quickly transfer support funds to eligible households, with aid for families of the deceased or missing to be completed before October 5.
Provinces and cities must mobilize forces and allocate sufficient resources from local budget reserves and other legal sources to repair and restore schools, hospitals, and other essential facilities damaged by storms and floods, ensuring students are not left without classrooms or learning materials, and residents have access to healthcare.
The Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Industry and Trade were tasked with guiding localities in securing adequate supplies of food, necessities, equipment, and construction materials for house repairs, while strictly managing prices and preventing speculation or profiteering during recovery efforts.
According to an initial report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the recent typhoon and floods left 53 people dead and missing, 139 injured; at least 91 houses collapsed or drifted; over 144,000 houses had their roofs blown off or damaged.
In an official telegram issued on October 2, the Prime Minister demanded swift recovery efforts following the catastrophic impact of Typhoon Bualoi across the northern and north-central regions. He also stressed the need for immediate assistance for people to rebuild and repair homes, schools, and hospitals, provide temporary shelters for displaced families, and deliver aid to households who lost relatives, homes, or property./.
