Typhoon Bualoi and floods kill 26, leave 30 missing in Viet Nam

VGP – As of 1pm on Tuesday, typhoon Bualoi in central region and floods in northern region killed 26 and left 30 missing, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Hundreds of houses submerged in floodwater in in Nong Cong Commune of Thanh Hoa province

At least 105 people have been injured and eight others have been out of contact while nearly 150,000 houses have been damaged, the ministry added.

Floods and landslides claimed three lives in Lao Cai province, two lives in Cao Bang province, one in Son La province, and one in Lang Son province.

Nine people were killed by tornadoes in Ninh Binh province. Two persons were swept away by floodwater in Nghe An province and Hue City.

At least 88 houses collapsed in Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Quang Tri provinces.

More than 135,770 houses were damaged, with 482 houses in Lao Cai, 12 in Son La, 20 in Phu Tho, 272 in Tuyen Quang, 31 in Lang Son, 117 in Cao Bang, 15 in Thai Nguyen, 235 in Hai Phong, 300 in Hung Yen, 1,181 in Ninh Binh, 896 in Thanh Hoa, 44,035 in Nghe An, 84,584 in Ha Tinh, 3,396 in Quang Tri, and 91 in Hue.

Around 13,800 houses submerged in floodwater, including 4,208 in Lao Cai, 208 in Cao Bang, 4,059 in Thanh Hoa, 3,890 in Nghe An, 1,426 in Ha Tinh, and 18 in Quang Tri.

Floods and heavy rains triggered by typhoon Bualoi damaged more than 25,540 hectares of rice and crops in 14 cities and provinces, mostly in Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Tri.

Typhoon Bualoi toppled 5,661 power poles, leading to widespread power outage in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces.

More than 57.800 trees were uprooted./.
