Foreign trade up over 17% in seven months
VGP - Viet Nam racked up a trade surplus of US$14.08 billion during the first seven months of the year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.

In July, trade between Viet Nam and the rest of the world was estimated at US$69.72 billion, up 8.7 percent over the previous month, and up 21.8 percent over the same period last year.
In the January-July period, total import and export turnover of goods stood at US$439.88 billion, up 17.1 percent on-year, of which export value increased by 15.7 percent to US$226.98 billion and imports rose by 18.5 percent to US$212.9 billion.
In seven months, 30 items joined US$1 billion export club, making up 91.9 percent of the total export value.
During the reviewed period, the U.S. remained the largest importer of Vietnamese goods with US$66.1 billion while China maintained its position as the biggest supplier of goods to Viet Nam with US$79.2 billion.
The Southeast Asian nation enjoyed a trade surplus with the U.S. (US$57.5 billion), the EU (US$20.1 billion) and Japan (US$1.1 billion) while reporting a trade deficit with China (US$45.8 billion), South Korea (US$17.7 billion) and ASEAN (US$5.5 billion)./.
