COVID-19 risk level: Bac Lieu classified as 'red zone"

VGP - Bac Lieu is currently the only locality in Viet Nam labeled as 'red zone,' or the highest risk of COVID-19 transmission, according to the Ministry of Health.

Five other provinces namely Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Binh Dinh, Phu Tho, and Yen Bai are rated as 'orange zone', the second highest COVID-19 risk level in the Southeast Asian country.

The ministry also ranked 20 provinces and cities as 'yellow zone', the third higest COVID-19 risk level: Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Dong Nai, Ha Tinh, Hai Phong, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Lam Dong, Nghe An, Phu Yen, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, and Vinh Phuc.

Other localities including Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City are classified as "green zone".

Under the Government's Resolution No. 128, the pandemic level in each locality comprises shall be decided on the basis of two criteria: the proportion of people aged 18 and more getting vaccinated, and the number of new cases per 100,000 people in a week.

Based on those measurement tools, the Government designates infected areas into red, orange, yellow and green, meaning 'very high risk', 'high', 'medium risk', and 'low risk.'
