According to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, heavy rains in Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Ha Noi, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have caused three houses collapsed and 21 others damaged.

More than 2,200 homes were inundated while thousands of households were isolated due to heavy rains and floods during these days.

In Ha Noi, rainfall exceeding 150 mm in several parts from Wednesday night to Thursday morning has caused widespread flooding, with some schools switching to online classes.

In response to the situation, provinces and cities are urgently working to address the consequences of the natural disaster; closely monitoring water levels in rivers in the northern region and Thanh Hoa.

Localities are asked to strengthen warnings to local residents about flood developments, and control the movement of people and vehicles across low-water crossings, spillway bridges and areas with deep or fast-flowing water.

They are required to organize the relocation and evacuation of residents in areas along rivers and streams, low-lying areas, and places at risk of deep flooding, flash floods and landslides to safety./.
