Vu Dai Thang elected as new Chairman of Ha Noi People’s Committee
VGP - The Ha Noi Municipal People’s Council on Friday unanimously elected Vu Dai Thang as Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee after the Politburo appointed him as Deputy Secretary of the city Party Committee.

Vu Dai Thang assumes the new position from his previous role as Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee.
The Council also approved the resignation of Nguyen Duc Trung from the post of Chairman of the Ha Noi People's Committee for the 2021–2026 term due to health problem and personal request, just 15 days after he assumed the position.

Mr. Vu Dai Thang was born in 1975 in Ha Noi. He holds a Master's degree in International Relations, a Bachelor's degree in Economics, and a Bachelor's degree in Law, and has an advanced level of political theory.
Vu worked for many years at the Ministry of Planning and Investment before being appointed as Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment. From August 2020 to October 2024, he worked in Quang Binh Province as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
On October 26, 2024, he was assigned by the Politburo to join the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and serve as Secretary of the Committee for the 2020–2025 term.
On September 26, at the first conference of the Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term, Comrade Vu Dai Thang—member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee (term XV), and Head of the Quang Ninh Province National Assembly Delegation—was re-elected as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term./.
