This was the first discussion between the two officials since Maris Sangiampongsa was endorsed as Thaland's new Foreign Minister.

The Vietnamese FM proposed the two sides continue fostering coordination to implement the outcomes of the fifth meeting of the Joint Committee for Viet Nam-Thailand Cooperation that took place in Bangkok in April this year.

He underlined the need to enhance mutual trust and cohesion via all-level delegation exchanges, step up cooperation in the pillar areas of defense, security, trade, investment, culture, education, tourism, transport, and people-to-people exchange, and focus on establishing a working group to carry out the "Three Connections" strategy.

Maris, for his part, reiterated that Viet Nam is a crucial partner of Thailand in the region, pledging to maintain close ties between the two foreign ministries to further strengthen the Viet Nam-Thailand strategic partnership.

Both diplomats committed to working closely to prepare for the coming all-level visits as well as bilateral cooperation mechanisms, particularly the fourth joint Cabinet meeting co-chaired by the two Prime Ministers.

They underlined the importance of economic and trade links and vowed to actively promote linkages between their localities and businesses./.
