Vietnamese Prime Minister meets Lao counterpart ahead of ASEAN summits
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday had a meeting with his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone in Vientiane ahead of ASEAN summits and related meetings
Pham reiterated that Viet Nam attaches great importance and gives the highest priority to the great relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos, striving to nurture and develop the bilateral ties in a more sustainable and intensive manner.
He suggested the two sides should bolster effective cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, agriculture, high-tech livestock, and food security.
Pham emphasized the need to focus on training high-quality human resources, and step up collaboration in restoring and protecting monuments marking the special solidarity between Viet Nam and Laos.
Pham expressed his hope that Laos will continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to launch operations in the country.
He expressed his impressions with Laos' thoughtful preparation in all aspects for the upcoming ASEAN Summits as well as Laos' role as the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024.
Both countries should work closely and join hands with other ASEAN Member States to maintain and strengthen solidarity and consensus of the bloc, ensuring that ASEAN demonstrates a unified stance on regional issues, said the Vietnamese Prime Minister.
Viet Nam stands ready to push for stronger ties with Laos and other countries for the successful organizations of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Meetings and the upcoming 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), contributing to promoting Laos' prestige and the solidarity and consensus of ASEAN, stated Pham.
Sonexay Siphandone, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the assistance of Viet Nam for his country during its national development, asserting that the Lao Government will step up collaboration with Viet Nam to facilitate Viet Nam's investment projects in Laos.
The two Prime Ministers pledged to effectively implement high-level agreements, including the outcomes of the high-level meeting between the two Parties in Ha Noi last September.
They occurred to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels and via all channels to consolidate political trust, strengthen security and defense cooperation and boost comprehensive linkages of the two economies, particularly in terms of infrastructures, transport, investment and tourism.
The two Prime Ministers emphasized the value of solidarity between Viet Nam-Laos and Viet Nam-Laos-Cambodia and vowed to continue working with Cambodia to promote the three countries' cooperation towards a practical and effective manner, meeting the needs of the three countries and in accordance with development demands in the new period./.
