Party General Secretary and State President To Lam

The two leaders discussed measures to further spur the Viet Nam-Korea comprehensive partnership and issues of common concern.

President Yoon expressed his condolences over the passing of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

He was convinced that the Party and State of Viet Nam, led by General Secretary and President To Lam, will continue to gain greater successes, enhancing the position and reputation of Viet Nam on the international arena.

He affirmed that South Korea attaches importance to the role of Viet Nam in the implementation of his country's policies toward the region.

The pair agreed to further strengthen mutual understanding and political trust through maintaining high-level exchanges and meetings via Party, Government, parliament, and people-to-people channels, increasing cooperation in security and defense, and promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation in a substantive, effective, balanced, and sustainable manner.

The two sides were unanimous to raise the two-way trade to US$150 billion by 2030.

The Vietnamese Party leader welcomed Korean firms to join key investment projects in Viet Nam.

Yoon pledged that South Korea will increase the import of Vietnamese agricultural products.

The two sides agreed to bolster cooperation in labor, culture, tourism, education, and people-to-people exchange, and to support each other's citizens in living, studying, and working in each other's country.

They also agreed to strengthen cooperation on regional and international issues. To affirmed Viet Nam stands ready to actively contribute to the peace process on the Korean Peninsula.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides agreed on the necessity of maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, development, and respect for international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Yoon invited General Secretary and President To Lam to visit South Korea soon and the latter accepted the invitation with pleasure./.
