Viet Nam welcomes 3.7 million foreign tourists in four months
VGP - Viet Nam welcomed nearly 3.7 million foreign tourists in the first four months of 2023, according to the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
In April alone, 984,100 foreigners visited the Southeast Asian country, an increase of 9.9 percent from the previous month.
The country served 10.5 million domestic tourists in April and 38 million others in the January-April period, said VNAT.
The Republic of Korea remains Viet Nam's biggest tourism source market in the reviewed period with one million visitors, followed by the U.S. with 263,000 and China with 252,000.
Especially, the number of Chinese tourists to Viet Nam in April soared by 61.5 percent to 112,000 thanks to China's border reopening policy.
Revenues from accommodation and catering services in January-April period were estimated to at VND 214.8 trillion, representing a year-on-year increase of 25 percent.
This year, Viet Nam targets to welcome 110 million tourists, including 8 million foreigners, and earn around VND 650 trillion in tourism revenue.
According to VNAT, the screening of the film "A tourist's guide to love" which was shot in Viet Nam has attracted the attention of audience around the world.
The film features the beauty of local landscapes along with the beauty of Vietnamese people and culture at six main locations namely Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City; Da Nang; Hoi An, My Son (Quang Nam) and Ha Giang.
It ranks third in the list of globally most-watched movies on Netflix with 13.4 million viewing hours./.
