Viet Nam-UK strategic partnership develops strongly: VUKN Chairman
VGP - President Vo Van Thuong's visit to the UK to attend the coronation of King Charles III is another sign of the excellent friendly high-level relations between the two countries at such an auspicious time, according to the Chairman of the Viet Nam-UK Network (VUKN) Mark Kent.
The VUKN Chairman said the relations between the UK and Viet Nam have changed dramatically since 2010, adding that the Strategic Partnership established in 2010 was renewed in 2020. The bilateral relationship is growing more robust, profound, and broader.
Trade and investment between the two countries have continued to grow thanks to the UK – Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) and now the UK's accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) with the support of Viet Nam.
The VUKN President also pointed out that, to meet the needs of the growing economy, Viet Nam is upgrading the country's infrastructure. He expressed delight at the participation of British companies in the process.
Additionally, the two countries strengthen scientific cooperation and actively participate in efforts to deal with climate change.
Also, cooperation on global security and peacekeeping is proliferating. In particular, the two sides strengthen cooperation in the fight against organized crime, with agendas continuing to evolve bilaterally and globally.
Besides, educational cooperation continues to grow, as many UK schools and universities are already present in Viet Nam and many Vietnamese students come to study in the UK.
Regarding the people-to-people diplomatic relations between the two countries, this relationship is flourishing thanks to the growth of the internet and social media, providing opportunities for face-to-face communication and thereby enhancing mutual understanding.
In particular, sport is an area that connects the people of the two countries, like football and the Premier League. Similarly, culture, art and cuisine also play an essential role in enhancing understanding and friendship between the two peoples./.
