Viet Nam remains a top priority partner of Russia in Asia-Pacific: Prime Minister Mishustin

Prime Minister Mishustin made the above statement during his meeting with General Secretary To Lam in Moscow on May 8.
Mishustin spoke highly of To's official visit to Russia, saying the visit would help deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Russia.
General Secretary To said his ongoing official visit to Russia demonstrates the fact that the Party and Staet of Viet Nam attach importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia as well as the two countries' high determination to deepen the bilateral ties.
To took the occasion to convey Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other senior leaders of Viet Nam to Prime Minister Mishustin and other senior Russian leaders.
He affirmed that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam always treasure and are grateful to the valuable support and assistance that the Soviet Union and now Russia has offered Viet Nam in its struggle for national liberation, construction and protection.
Given the current fast-changing international landscape, Viet Nam especially attaches importance to the traditional friendship and stands ready to work closely with Russia to further heighten the bilateral relations, said To.
He suggested both sides strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership through consolidating political trust, promoting the role of the Intergovernmental committee; deepening defense-security cooperation; accelerating oil and gas and atomic energy cooperation while expanding cooperation to cover new energies, especially renewable and clean energies; improving the effectiveness of economic, trade and investment cooperation; intensifying cooperation in traditional domains such as education and training, science and technology; fostering local-to-local partnership, transport and tourism cooperation among others.
The two leaders discussed on a wide range of measures to consolidate political trust and expand bilateral cooperation, especially in potential areas of both sides' strengths such as energy, trade, investment, defense industry, transport, high technology, artificial intelligence, digital economy, healthcare, education and training, culture, tourism, local-to-local cooperation, and people-to-people exchange.
The two sides agreed to continue reinforcing cooperation between the two countries' ministries, agencies, localities and business circles; promote joint projects in energy, industry, high-tech agriculture, logistics and digital transformation.
Prime Minister Mishustin affirmed that the Russian Government will coordinate with the Vietnamese Government to implement the decisions approved by the two sides at the highest level./.
