Viet Nam prioritizes tech and innovation cooperation with Singapore
VGP – Viet Nam prioritizes cooperation with Singapore in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, General Secretary and President To Lam told Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Friday.

To Lam, who is on a three-day visit to Singapore, explained that science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation are identified as the key drivers of a new growth model that Viet Nam targets to build.
He affirmed Viet Nam's resolve to continue reforming and streamlining the administration system and administrative procedures in a bid to improve governance performance.
On bilateral relations, both sides acknowledged remarkable achievements in economic, trade, and investment cooperation, and positive advancements in the fields of defense, security, education, science and technology, tourism, labor, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two leaders agreed to continue cementing political trust through regular exchange of high-level delegations and contacts, promoting the role of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, improving strategic cooperation in commensurate with the newly-established comprehensive strategic partnership (CSP), and forming a strategic sci-tech ecosystem between the two countries.
Both sides concurred to further promote the green-digital economic partnership, particularly in implementing the clean energy connectivity project and carbon credit exchange, and developing new-generation Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) system in tandem with high-tech transfer.
Both sides also agreed to tighten defense and security cooperation, promote cooperation in combatting cyber and drug, enhance cultural and tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, while beefing up aviation, logistics, and seaport connectivity.
The two countries agreed to continue bolstering cooperation in ensuring supply chain resilience, including food and energy.
To Lam suggested Singapore would continue assisting Viet Nam in cadre training, operating the national data center and the artificial intelligence-based hyperscale data.
The two leaders concurred to further expand and deepen coordination over international issues, work together to enhance ASEAN's capacity to response to challenges.
To Lam reassured Viet Nam's active support and collaboration with Singapore to make responsible contributions to ASEAN's common works, and to help Singapore successfully undertakes the role as ASEAN Chair in 2027.
Both To Lam and Lawrence Wong underscored the importance of maintaining peace, security, stability, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, settling disputes through peaceful means in line with the principles of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
To Lam took the occasion to invite Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to visit Viet Nam again in the near future./.
