Viet Nam, Cuba hold seventh political consultation
VGP - Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc and Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Peñalver Portal co-chaired the seventh political consultation in Ha Noi on August 29.
The Cuban diplomat is on an official visit to Viet Nam from August 28–September 1 at the invitation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the consultation, Ha expressed his sympathy with the Party, State and people of Cuba over huge losses caused by the oil storage facility explosion in Matanzas on August 5.
Ha thanked Cuba for supporting Viet Nam in its fight against COVID-19, affirming Viet Nam's consistent stance on advocating Cuba and calling for an end to the blockade and unilateral embargo on the Latin American country.

Both sides pledged to continue close coordination to prepare for high-level visits and meetings and effectively uphold the efficiency of mechanisms between their Parties, Governments and ministries.
They vowed to enhance exchanges between business communities and foster trade and investment in fields of mutual concern such as food, education, healthcare, science-technology, culture, sports and tourism.
Regarding regional and global issues of common concern, both sides agreed to continue consultation, close coordination and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums to which both nations have joined, particularly at the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Following the event, they signed a political consultation plan for the 2023-2025 period.
