Initiated by the Republic of Korea, with the support of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the group serves as an informal platform for cooperation among countries to raise awareness, promote dialogue, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration among states, as well as international organizations, private sector, and technology companies, in preventing and combating technology-facilitated trafficking in persons.

Addressing the event, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the UN Do Hung Viet said, Viet Nam places strong emphasis on digital transformation, data-driven approaches, and innovation to enhance the effectiveness of prevention, investigation, victim identification, and victim support efforts.

The participation of several ASEAN countries as founding members reflects the region's shared commitment to implementing the ASEAN Convention Against Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children (ACTIP), reiterated the diplomat.

The Ambassador also underscored that the UN Convention against Cybercrime, also known as the Ha Noi Convention, provides an important framework for strengthening international cooperation in combating technology-facilitated crimes, including trafficking in persons.

He called on countries to continue signing and ratifying the Convention so that it may enter into force at an early date./.
