Pham made the statement at the ministry's regular press conference on October 16, in response to a reporter's question about Viet Nam's comments on the U.S. Department of State's 2025 Trafficking in Persons Report, which includes content related to Viet Nam.

She affirmed that Viet Nam has been implementing anti-human trafficking efforts in line with key solutions under the Program on Human Trafficking Prevention and Control for the 2021–2025 period. Notably, Viet Nam adopted the 2024 Law on Human Trafficking Prevention and Control and has strengthened investigation, prosecution, and trial of related cases, identified and assisted victims, and promptly responded to emerging challenges in the regional and global trafficking situation.

According to the spokesperson, the country is also making efforts to achieve the objectives of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) under the implementation plan issued by the Prime Minister on March 20, 2020, with a view to fostering a transparent migration environment, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of migrants, and preventing risks of human trafficking in international migration activities.

In that spirit, Viet Nam hopes that the two countries will continue to cooperate closely, enhance exchanges and dialogue to ensure a more comprehensive and positive assessment of Viet Nam's efforts and achievements in combating human trafficking, in line with the spirit of the Viet Nam-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, Pham stated.

In response to a question regarding the U.S. Government's recent decision to impose tariffs on imported wood and kitchen cabinet products, in which Viet Nam is considered among the countries most affected, the spokesperson said that Viet Nam stands ready to engage in discussions with relevant U.S. agencies to jointly address existing issues, ensure that relevant information is reviewed objectively and fairly in accordance with international practices, thereby facilitating the promotion of bilateral economic, trade, and investment relations.

"We are committed to making every effort to promote trade activities fairly and transparently, while protecting the legitimate interests of enterprises which are producing and doing business in the country", Pham emphasized./.-VNA
