Two airports of Tho Xuan and Dong Hoi in the central region are close on August 25

Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Binh province will close from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, while Tho Xuan Airport in Thanh Hoa will suspend operations from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. the same day to ensure passenger and equipment safety.

Storm Kajiki, the fifth storm to hit Viet Nam this year, has intensified rapidly, with its wind strength reaching level 13-14 (134-166/kph) and gusts up to level 17 (202-220 kph) at 3:00 pm on Sunday.

Experts warned its potential impact could rival typhoon Yagi in 2024 and surpass the devastating storm Doksuri in 2017.

Due to the storm's vast cloud system, rainfall has already begun in parts of northern Viet Nam, including the capital Ha Noi.

Kajiki is expected to make landfall in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces on Monday afternoon.
