Top Vietnamese legislator to visit Cambodia, attend ICAPP, IPTP meetings
VGP - Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man will pay an official visit to Cambodia and attend the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the 11th Plenary Session of International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) from November 21-24.
According to the announcement of the NA's Foreign Affairs Committee, the trip will be made at the invitations of President of the Cambodian People's Party Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the ICAPP Chung Eui-yong.
Over past 57 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the relationship between Viet Nam and Cambodia has continued growth momentum.
Building on a strong political relationship, both countries have actively promoted and enhanced bilateral cooperation. Since the signing of the Viet Nam-Cambodia Economic and Trade Agreement in 1998, bilateral trade and investment have progressed remarkably. Viet Nam is among Cambodia's top three largest trading partners, with bilateral trade turnover reaching US$5.8 billion over the first nine months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 21.9 percent.
The leaders of both nations agreed to aim for bilateral trade turnover to reach US$20 billion in the coming time.
Regarding investment, Viet Nam currently has 205 projects in Cambodia with a total registered capital of US$2.94 billion, ranking top in ASEAN and among the top five countries with largest investment in Cambodia./.
