Prime Minister meets President of Cambodia Senate Hun Sen
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen who is in Viet Nam to attend the funeral of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Hun Sen said the demise of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a great lost to the Party, Government and people of Viet Nam as well as to leaders and people of Cambodia.
Under the leadership of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the relationship between Viet Nam and Cambodia has been ceaselessly consolidated and developed, bringing about great benefits to the two countries' people, Hun Sen said.
Pham extended sincere thanks to Hun Sen for travelling to Viet Nam to pay homage to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, adding that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam feel moved for having received the deepest condolences from the King, the Cambodian People's Party, the leaders of the Cambodian Parliament and other agencies and organizations of Cambodia over the demise of Party General Secretary.
Both sides agreed that the two countries will continue consolidating and enhancing political trust between the two Parties and the two States; coordinating closely in the implementation of the sides' joint statements and cooperation agreements; increasing the exchange of high-level visits and contacts; and promoting the role of the existing cooperation mechanisms as well as cooperation between the two countries' ministries, agencies and localities.
Hun Sen He affirmed that Cambodia will continue to nurture and further develop the relationship between the two Parties, the two countries and their people based on the valuable legacy of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Pham reassured Hun Sen that Viet Nam always supports a peaceful, stable and prosperous Cambodia, considering it as Viet Nam's key interest.
Both sides reaffirmed the principle of not allowing any forces to use one country's territory to sabotage the other; agreed to build the shared borderline of peace, stability and sustainable development, and to strengthen the connectivity between the two economies.
The two sides also affirmed their resolve to work with Laos to further consolidate and cement the relations between the three countries.
Earlier the same day, President To Lam hosted a reception for President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen./.
