The same day, Tran held talks with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Nukaga Fukushiro, during which the latter reiterated that Japan regards Viet Nam as a key partner in its foreign policy towards the region.

Nukaga expressed his wish to promote the Viet Nam-Japan comprehensive strategic partnership towards an effective, substantive, and robust manner.

The National Diet of Japan advocates the two countries to enhance economic, official development assistance (ODA), investment, and trade cooperation, noted Fukushiro, adding that a number of Japanese companies hope to expand their investments in Viet Nam.

Tran, for his part, affirmed that Viet Nam considers Japan one of its top long-term partners and supports Japan to play an active role and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Tran appreciated Japan for providing ODA capital for Viet Nam over the past 30 years, suggesting the country implement a new-generation ODA program for Viet Nam, with high incentives, and simple and flexible procedures in large-scale strategic infrastructure development projects and help Viet Nam train high-quality human resources.

The Vietnamese legislative body is actively improving the legal framework and the investment environment in favor of foreign enterprises, including those from Japan, to increase stable and long-term investments in Viet Nam, stated the guest.

He urged Japan to step up assistance for Viet Nam to engage more deeply in the global semiconductor supply chain of Japanese companies.

The two sides pledged to further reinforce bilateral political trust, deepen cooperation across all channels of Party, Government, parliament, and people-to-people exchange, and encourage exchanges and visits at high and all levels.

Both sides emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration in security and defense, including the implementation of agreements on defense technology and equipment transfer, as well as enhancing cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping activities.

The two sides vowed to foster stronger ties in new areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, innovation, digital society, green transition, and energy transition, as well as investment cooperation in training human resources.

Regarding international and regional situation, both sides pledged to enhance coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and mechanisms such as ASEAN, the UN, as well as multilateral parliamentary forums like the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF)./.
