To Lam holds online talks with Japanese Prime Minister
VGP – General Secretary and President To Lam held online talks with President of the Liberal Democratic Party and Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio on September 3.
Prime Minister Kishida once again extended his deepest condolences over the death of late General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.
Kishida expressed his belief that General Secretary and President To Lam will continue to play a key role in promoting and deepening the relations between Viet Nam and Japan, emphasizing that Viet Nam is a major partner of Japan in the region and the world.
To sincerely thanked Kishida for having sent the message of condolences and his Special Envoy Suga Yoshihide to lead a delegation to Viet Nam to attend the funeral of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.
He also thanked Kishida Fumio for having extended congratulations to him, reassuring that Japan is an important partner of Viet Nam in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
The two leaders expressed their pleasure to witness the strong, rapid and comprehensive development of the bilateral ties, notably the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace in Asia and the world on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the sides' diplomatic relations.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen political trust and mutual understanding through maintaining high-level exchanges in flexible manner and enhancing the role of bilateral dialogue and cooperation mechanisms.
The two leaders agreed to speed up economic cooperation as a key pillar of the bilateral ties and intensify the connectivity between the two economies.
Prime Minister Kishida stressed that Japan will continue partnering with Viet Nam in its development cause through official development assistance, enhanced cooperation with Viet Nam in digital transformation, green transition and high-quality human resource training.
To Lam underlined that Viet Nam will continue to significantly improve its business environment and quality of infrastructure, and welcome foreign investors, including those from Japan to invest in the Southeast Asian country.
Both sides agreed to continue fostering defense-security cooperation in a substantial fashion, effectively implement the signed agreements, and further deepen connections in human resources, people-to-people exchanges and local-to-local cooperation.
The General Secretary and President of Viet Nam suggested the Japanese Government would continue encouraging and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Japan.
The pair compared notes on regional and international issues of shared concerns and agreed to boost cooperation to reinforce the peaceful, secure, and stable environment in the region, including the East Sea issue./.
