Top leaders pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh on army’s 80th anniversary
VGP - A senior delegation of the Party, State and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Ha Noi's Ba Dinh square on Friday morning on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Viet Nam People’s Army.
The delegation was led by General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Chairman of the Natinal Assembly Tran Thanh Man - the top four leaders of Viet Nam.
The delegation paid respect to President Ho Chi Minh who had made great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the nation and directly founded, educated, and trained the Viet Nam People's Army.
The delegation also laid a wreath and offered incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs in Ha Noi's Bac Son street.
The Viet Nam People's Army was founded on December 22, 1944, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President Ho Chi Minh, tasked with safeguarding the nation's independence, freedom, and territorial integrity.
The army achieved numerous legendary triumphs, such as the victory of the August 1945 Revolution, of the 1945 Dien Bien Phu campaign over French colonialism, and of the 1975 Ho Chi Minh Campaign over American imperialism, significantly contributing to national liberation and reunification.
In peacetime, the army has actively engaged in socio-economic development, assisting in building infrastructure, promoting rural modernization, supporting poverty reduction programs, and partaking in disaster relief, search-and-rescue operations.
So far, Viet Nam has engaged in various regional and international multilateral military and defense forums and mechanisms. The country has set up defense cooperation with more than 100 countries across the globe./.
