Sixth Deputy Chief of General Staff of army appointed
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has appointed Major General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Commander of Air Defense and Air Force, as Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army.

Major General Pham Truong Son, aged 55, was born in the central province of Ha Tinh. He has a Bachelor of Military qualification.
The General Staff is the commanding and managing organization of the Viet Nam’s People Army, the paramilitary forces, militia and other activities relating to defense of Viet Nam.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Deputy Minister of National Defense is the Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army.
Nguyen is aided by six Deputy Chiefs, including Senior Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien, Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang,
