Nguyen hailed the fruitful development in the Viet Nam-Luxembourg relations across various fields thanks to the frequent exchange of delegations.

The two-way trade turnover reached US$26 million in 2024, up 44 percent compared to 2023, he noted.

Viet Nam expects to further strengthen ties with Luxembourg towards a more practical and effective manner, particularly in priority areas such as establishing international financial centers, green finance, green energy, and high technology, Nguyen said.

He suggested that both sides continue to promote all-level delegation exchanges, especially high-level visits, and fully utilize the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) to boost trade and facilitate market access for each side's goods.

Additionally, he called on Luxembourg to urge the European Commission (EC) to lift the "yellow card" warning against Viet Nam's seafood exports.

Briefing about Viet Nam's plan to build international financial centers, Nguyen said it is a significant decision aimed at mobilizing resources for the country's socio-economic development in a bid to realize the goal of becoming an industrialized nation by 2045.

Bettel, for his part, appraised the close friendship between the two countries and the active exchange of high-level delegations, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Luxembourg in 2022 and his own visit to Viet Nam in 2023 as Prime Minister of Luxembourg.

He expressed his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations and elevate the ties into a new level, suggesting Viet Nam consider facilitating easier entry for Luxembourgish citizens.

The host expressed hope that the establishment of the international financial centers would be successful, further expanding cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

He affirmed Luxembourg's readiness to send experts and provide training support for Viet Nam to implement this project, as well as to strengthen ties in green finance, green energy, and other areas.

The two sides discussed various international and regional issues of mutual concern, including conflicts in global hotspots, the East Sea issue, and free trade.

Representatives from LuxSE actively shared their experiences in developing necessary legal infrastructure and regulatory framework for operating an international financial market, as well as the essential incentive policies to attract foreign investors to participate in the market.

They also committed to providing training support for Viet Nam to enhance professional expertise and skills in developing and implementing an international financial market, aiming to make the country a success story in this field./.
