Qualcomm’s R&D Center opens in Ha Noi

In the initial phase, the center will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and system-on-a-chip (SoC) development before expanding into automotive technology, the Internet of Things (IoT), and other advanced technologies.
According to Qualcomm, the center in Ha Noi is part of the company's global R&D network, leveraging Viet Nam's tech talent and promoting collaboration with local partners.
The Vietnamese engineering team will directly participate in designing and developing new technologies, while also collaborating with Qualcomm's other engineering teams worldwide. The technology solutions developed in Viet Nam are intended to serve both domestic and international markets.
The expansion of R&D activities in Viet Nam aims to build a team of internationally qualified engineers in the semiconductor and software sectors. The company will also collaborate with local universities and training institutions to develop a highly skilled technology workforce.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong said, the launch of Qualcomm's R&D center in Viet Nam marked a strategically significant milestone.
He urged Qualcomm to further expand its research and development activities in Viet Nam, with a focus on AI semiconductor chip design, IoT, and 6G mobile connectivity.
He expressed his hope that the company would collaborate with domestic enterprises to develop AI devices, smart devices, and AI infrastructure in the country.
He called on Qualcomm to strengthen cooperation with local universities, research institutes, and businesses, support the training of high-quality talent, and promote the development of a domestic semiconductor supply chain./.
