In 2024, Nvidia—the world's leading technology corporation in the fields of AI and semiconductors—also collaborated with Viet Nam to establish an AI R&D Center in the country.

The official launch of Qualcomm's new AI R&D Center in Viet Nam is expected to position the country as a leading hub for AI research and innovation in the region and globally.

With a team of scientists, researchers, and AI experts based in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, this new AI R&D Center will operate under Qualcomm's global AI research group.

It will play a key role in developing generative AI and agentic AI solutions, with applications across various domains such as smartphones, personal computers, extended reality, automotive technology, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The center will focus on technological innovation from basic research to platform development, promote regional human resource development and academic collaborations, while also directly contributing to Qualcomm's global product roadmap and the development of the AI industry in Viet Nam.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh said, the event marks a new step forward in technological cooperation between Viet Nam and the U.S.

Qualcomm's decision to choose Viet Nam as the location for its AI R&D Center reflects its confidence in the potential and capabilities of the country's information technology workforce, he noted, adding that it also serves as a vivid testament to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries./.
