In his opening remarks, Deputy Deputy Prime Minister Tran expressed his delight on the positive developments in the bilateral ties over the past 50 years especially after the formulation of the strategic partnership in climate change and water management.
The two countries have well implemented 19 cooperation programs and projects, especially the Master plan for Mekong Delta in 2020-2030 with vision towards 2050, the Master Plan for the Mekong River Basin in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 since the 7th meeting despite being challenged by the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.
He highly valued the positive and effective contributions of the Netherlands to socio-economic development in Viet Nam.
Viet Nam expects the Netherlands will continue to support its green transition, renewable energy, water resource management and climate change response.
On the occasion, the two sides held a strategic policy dialogue on climate change response and water management, during which they updated each other on policies, priority activities in climate change and water management.

In reply, Minister Mark Harbers appreciated Viet Nam’s participation and contributions to the “Summit for a New Global Financial Pact.
He also acknowledged the proposals of Viet Nam and agreed to work with Vietnamese relevant agencies in the coming time./.
